On March 25-26,2025, the CEO of SWT,Joy Zheng attended the pivotal Ontario Swine Conference (OSC) in London, an event organized in collaboration with Ontario Pork’s Annual General Meeting. This year’s conference brought together the London Swine Conference and Ontario Pork’s AGM, providing a deeper and broader exploration of the current market situations and the challenges and opportunities within the swine industry.
The conference opened with insights from economists across various sectors, analyzing the impacts of recent tariff wars on Canada’s swine industry. Sylvain Charlebois from Dalhousie University encouraged the attendees with a compelling statement, “Pork deserves better marketing,” emphasizing the need for enhanced marketing strategies in these challenging times.
Focusing on overcoming these challenges and advancing Canada’s swine industry, René Roy, Chair of the Canadian Pork Council, and Dr. Dalton Obermier from JYGA Technologies, Inc., delivered keynotes on smart swine operations. They discussed essential modern swine farming elements such as real-time data, precision, and efficiency, particularly highlighting Precision Livestock Farming (PLF),like sensor technology, related algorithms, and functional interfaces.
Dr. Obermier outlined the critical factors for successfully operating a smart swine facility, emphasizing efficiency in data handling, feeding, labor, and production reporting. He also stressed the importance of accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and integration in smart farming operations.
The 2025 OSC proved to be an enlightening event, broadening perspectives on the application of smart technologies in swine farming and pushing the boundaries of innovation in the industry.
During the event, Joy Zheng, CEO of SWT Technologies Inc., engaged in deep and enthusiastic discussions with industry leaders such as René Roy, Tara Terpstra (Chair of the Ontario Pork Board), and Bob Friendship (former Chairman of the Ontario Swine Conference). Proudly, she showcased SWT Technologies Inc.'s smart weighing systems, which promise to bring real-time data, cost savings, and labor savings to the swine industry, marking a significant leap forward in agricultural technology.
